ACHIEVEMENTS

Land Acquisition:
The Conservancy’s land acquisitions include properties on
Napatree Point, the barrier beach on Fishers Island Sound, wetlands, other ecologically sensitive land, and properties along East Beach. In 2002, a map was developed to identify properties in the Watch Hill Fire District.

Ecological Management:
Manage the Napatree Point Conservation Area.

Commissioned and published a history of Watch Hill and a primer on the historic architecture of the community.

Established development design standards for Watch Hill Village.

Spearheaded zoning to protect the scale of buildings and preserve the architectural
character and style of Watch Hill Village.

Watch Hill Vision 2012
Initiated Watch Hill’s five-year strategic plan.

Through staff, participated in the Citizens Advisory Committee to develop the
Town of Westerly’s 2010 Comprehensive Plan.
